Sapphire Posted September 2, 2009 Share Posted September 2, 2009 long story short.I am involved in a contest for National Geographic. out of 12,000 pics...ours is in the top 12 !The winner gets a PAID TRIP to the Galapogos islands with National Geographic, along with their pic published in an NG addition!We are so close we can TASTE IT! However, the pic that we are running against is a good one, but was put in the WRONG catagory so I personaly don't think its a fair choice. The catagory is WEATHER....and the pic we are loosing too is a TRAVEL pic.I am in DESPERATE NEED of your help to win this. Which you may be as well, but I felt I have to say this because I don't just look for a "pretty" picture. I was a bit wary about voting for you just because you're part of the forum. If the other picture was better, I wouldn't be able to bring myself to vote for you. Though I would be nice enough not to hinder you and vote for the other picture.I went and looked at the pictures, and right away I could tell that your picture was much better than the other one. You're right in saying that that picture doesn't belong; there's not really any type of weather in the picture. Whereas your picture the weather has a real role in.As far as composition, that gold whatever at the bottom of the other picture drives me insane. It throws the entire picture off and makes me only want to look at it. The only thing that bothered me with yours was the left side, since it was dark and didn't really flow with the rest of the picture. But it's nothing too bad. I understand with photography you can't control everything as you can with other mediums.But I could actually freely move my eyes around the picture without any distractions, and that's a big plus to me compared with the other picture.Okay without going into full critique mode, I will just say I glad-fully voted for your picture over the other one. If the other picture wins over yours it will be because they found a way to vote more times themselves than other people voting.
